Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Recircuit Collective collects when you sign in, log donated electronics, or message our team — and what we do with it.

Last updated: August 19, 2026

Information we collect

We only ask for what we need to run our donation and workshop programs. Depending on how you use the site, that can include:

  • Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares with us.
  • Donation records: the weight of electronics you log, the drop-off or pickup option you choose, and the date of the entry.
  • Messages: the name, email address, and message text you submit through our contact form.
  • Payment information: if you make a financial donation, our payment processor handles your card details. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Basic technical data: information your browser sends automatically, such as page requests and error reports, used to keep the site working.

How we use it

We use your information to create and secure your account, credit the donations you log to your personal portal, calculate our community impact totals, respond to your messages, and coordinate drop-offs, pickups, and workshops.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Public and aggregated numbers

The impact figures shown on this site — such as total pounds diverted from landfill — are aggregate totals. They do not identify individual donors. Your name is never attached to a public figure without your permission.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers that make this site work, and only to the extent they need it: our hosting and database provider, our payment processor for financial donations, and email delivery for messages you send us. We may also disclose information if we are legally required to do so.

How we protect it

Accounts are protected by authenticated sign-in, and access to donation records is restricted so signed-in users can see their own entries. Only designated team administrators can edit organizational figures such as workshop listings and community totals. No online system is perfectly secure, so we recommend using a strong, unique password.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you what account data we hold, correct it, or delete your account and its donation records. Deleting your account removes your personal entries; aggregate totals that no longer identify you may remain. To make a request, email us and tell us the email address on your account.

Young people

Our workshops serve youth in New York City, but this website's accounts are intended for adults such as parents, guardians, teachers, and donors. If you believe a child has created an account or sent us personal information, email us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. Questions about this policy can go to recurcuitcollective@gmail.com.
